I remember lots of people claiming that Abrams "needed" to make TFA as essentially a remake/reboot of the first Star Wars movie, because everyone might have forgotten what Star Wars was and movie goers simply would not understand what they were looking at unless there was a 75 year old Han Solo helping to blow up another Death Star. It was such a bizarre claim, but after getting Rogue One and Last Jedi back-to-back I thought, well ok, they got their lazy reboot out of the way and now we are off to the races. These movies are very different and pretty good!
Then came Solo, Skywalker's Revenge, and a parade of largely turgid TV shows. Honestly, its probably for the best, and its time for my generation (80s kids) to finally let it go and accept Star Wars simply cannot mature given the demands placed on the franchise.
For me, ideally, moving forward, some Star Wars would be well-written, but for kids, and other Star Wars would be well-written, but a little more complex for the older fans, and that all of it eventually moves past the Skywalker Saga.
Andor feels like a smart creator snuck one by the bean counters. But the future of Disney Star Wars certainly feels like it will be less like Andor, and more shows like the Mandolorian and Obiwan, plus endless Darth Vader cameos.
I'm curious about Acolyte, although to be fair, I give them all a chance, but I'm still curious. I'm betting Yoda at least shows up, and I'm expecting the prophecy of the Chosen One to maybe play into it too, so there will probably still be some Skywalker Saga tie-ins, but maybe it's mostly a self-contained story that just takes place back in the day of the Jedi? Maybe?
I’ll never forget going into Carrie Fisher’s darkened house and seeing she had a picture of herself in her bikini sitting by Jabba the Hut stuck to her refrigerator with a magnet. Yes, queen.
The stunned silence in that auditorium had a physical weight, as the audience quietly shuffled from the theatre and out into the hot Hollywood night. Sad nerds in large Jedi robes, their shoulders slumped, dragging their plastic lightsabers back to their Hyundais and their Pontiac Grand Ams”
“ Giddy! We were all giddy with anticipation. It was like a muppet wedding, where every muppet was drunk, and none of them had gotten any sleep the night before. Then the trailers started, and the entire theatre, hundreds of wild-eyed, keyed-up nerds booed every single trailer. Booed! At the top of their lungs! Taunting and booing until our throats were sore! For the entire length of every trailer! “ And it was said that some MOOed. At least 2 nerds. At the top of our lungs.
Perfect summary of modern Star Wars.

But then there's Andor....
So there's still some life left in the ol' nag.

Well, I have an 11 year old, so I always have the excuse to be a hypocrite and watch all the new stuff AND complain about it. Win win!
Chanting: Bring back Baby Yo- dah

Luke milking and drinking that milk.. just why.
Meanwhile, eat that space chicken, Chewie! You deserve it, brother.
What was going on with these moments??
Awesomeness
I’ve never seen the last film in the Sequel Trilogy, Skywalker Revenge or whatever it was called.
WHAT? Bold.
